The following guidelines concerning remuneration payable to officers of the company were accepted at the 2012 AGM:

The board of directors proposes that the guidelines accepted at the 2011 AGM should continue to apply unchanged. Remuneration paid to the CEO and others in the company's management shall consist of a fixed remuneration, possible variable compensation, pension and any other customary benefits. The total sum paid must reflect market levels of compensation and the terms and conditions of payment shall reward good performance as well as give equal incentive for both the shareholders and the individual.

Fixed Compensation

Remuneration in the form of fixed compensation is to be paid in proportion to the officer's experience, responsibility and competence.

Variable Compensation

Variable compensation is to be paid in proportion to the officer's responsibility and competence. Additionally, compensation is to be both capped and based on the achievement of goals that correspond with shareholders' long-term interests. The variable compensation shall, whenever applicable, be based on quantitative and qualitative goals.

The company's cost for the variable compensation paid to the CEO and other company management is to amount to between zero and 100 per cent of the total sum of fixed remuneration paid, in line with goal-achievement.

The board proposes that the CEO and other company management in the same manner be given the right to participate in stock option plans as other staff and in accordance with the proposal the board submits at the AGM, as well as to receive any subsidised premium on the same terms as other HiQ employees.

Pension

HiQ offers its employees a premium-based pension scheme with the right to receive a pension payment from 65 years of age. Variable compensation paid is not pensionable. Retirement benefits are to be limited to 35 per cent of the amount of fixed compensation paid and to a maximum of approximately SEK 400,000 per annum and per employee.

Additional Benefits

Additional benefits provided by HiQ consist of conventional benefits given in accordance with local custom.

Termination of Employment and Severance Payment

With regard to the CEO, a mutual period of notice of six months will apply should either the company or the CEO choose to terminate the CEO's employment. Should the company choose to terminate the CEO's employment, a severance payment equivalent to ten month's salary is to be paid. Should the CEO choose to terminate his/her employment, then salary payable and other benefits are to be paid for a period of four months after employment ceases, during which time a non-compete clause will apply. In the case of the termination of the employment of other management, a mutual period of notice of three to six months will ordinarily apply.

The CEO determines the amount of remuneration payable to management. The amount of remuneration payable to the CEO is to be determined by the board.

The board may deviate from these guidelines in isolated cases if special reasons for doing so exist.

HiQ Stockholm

HiQ Stockholm is located in the heart of the Swedish capital and has some of the best views of the city available. With more than 400 employees, we create results and simplify for clients from other parts of the country, the region and around the world.

We help customers in segments such as telecom, defence and security, finance and insurance, industry and retail, gaming, entertainment and media and the public sector. We offer everything from strategy consulting, business development and software development to testing.

Our customers are not looking primarily for our resources and a few extra hands, but for our minds and innovative abilities. Although we work across many industries and supply a wide range of services, we are specialists with an in-depth understanding of the fields and domains in which we work. We understand the need to place technology within a context and how technology affects the people who work with it and our customers' business in general.

Simplicity is difficult to achieve, but for us it is a necessary way of approaching assignments to ensure we deliver useful and efficient solutions to difficult problems. It takes courage to step away from conventional thinking in order to seek better solutions to our customers' challenges. Employees at HiQ Stockholm are daring and creative team players. Could you be one of us?

HiQ Göteborg

HiQ Göteborg has been active in the heart of the technology-intensive Gothenburg region since 1998.

HiQ Gothenburg has over 300 specialists with expertise in fields such as software development (from start to finished product), quality management (especially testing and verification), qualified project management and business development, mobility and web development.

We are very flexible when it comes to forms of cooperation with our customers – we can work either at your location or at our own offices. We can participate in our customers' projects, or run an entire project either at your premises or at our offices.

Approximately two-thirds of our business is conducted on-site with our customers and the remainder at our offices, often in the form of project assignments. We have successfully carried out numerous projects at our offices and have extensive experience, expertise and structural investment in this form of working.

HiQ Mälardalen

We are located in Västerås and Örebro and work with advanced IT development throughout the western Mälardalen region.

HiQ Mälardalen is one of the largest IT consulting companies in the western Mälardalen region, with about 100 consultants. We work with systems development and project management in both product development and operations and we have successfully conducted complex development projects on our own premises for over 16 years. We are also a leader in quality assurance. We work both on site, at the customer and with larger project commitments on our own premises.

Some of our clients, found on both a local and global level, are ABB, Atlas Copco, Bombardier, Eskilstuna Strängnäs Energi & Miljö, FMV, Saab, SEB, Sörmlandstrafiken, the Swedish Transport Authority, the city of Västerås, Volvo, Västmanlands lokaltrafik (public transport in Västmanland county), and Westinghouse.

Today we see a strong demand for our services and are therefore on the look-out for new talented consultants who want to work with system development or project management in the IT field!

CarPay

– the service that makes the Volvo card digital

CarPay. Photo: Volvofinans Bank

The Volvo card from Volvofinans Bank is in the wallet of one million car owners. Thanks to CarPay, the card moves into the mobile, which simplifies for the customers and creates a platform for new services. The CarPay service had more than 120,000 users after just five months, and the feedback has been very positive.

”Surveys show that 97 per cent of the users would recommend CarPay to a friend. The service is also nominated in the Swedish Design Awards in the “Identity – Digital” category, which shows that we don’t only master the technical area, but are also skilled in the design area,” says Marie Norrbrink at HiQ.

CarPay is one of many mobile banking- and payment services that HiQ has developed.

How did the partnership with Volvofinans Bank start?

”It all started with Volvofinans wondering how they could stay relevant in the future, considering all of the new players and services that have arisen within their domain. We teamed up our business development team with theirs and created an innovation plan with the customer in focus. They already had a good ecosystem of services, but it had to be better synchronized and also simpler to get an overview as a client.

What did the solution look like?

”We came to the conclusion that it needs to simpler to be a car owner, and that everything regarding your car finances should be gathered in one place. The name ”CarPay” was created, as was the logo, and after that we developed the mobile solution. The service makes it possible to view transactions and balance, change your credit limit and take advantage of current offers, as well as use your loyalty bonus points directly in your mobile. The service also gives an overview of savings accounts, loans, and leasing. The work has only just started, much more is to come. CarPay is a digital service platform that will continue to evolve over time, to continue improving the service to the customers.

In which way does CarPay simplify everyday life?

”A customer will have everything gathered in one place. I can check my balance and my transactions at any time, and use new kinds of benefits. For example, if you see an offer for new winter tyres, it’s easy to directly adjust your payment capacity. It’s simply a better overview of one’s car economy and a more convenient service than the traditional Volvo card – which you can easily loose or forget to use.

Conny Bergström, CEO of Volvofinans Bank:

”We wanted to offer relevant and convenient services that simplify our customers’ everyday lives. The CarPay app is a first step that gives our customers a full overview of all purchases and access to completely new benefits concerning to car owning. For example, it’s possible to use earned loyalty bonus points when refuelling at Tanka, by just a simple tap on your smartphone”.

DiacorPlus

– a healthcare clinic in your mobile

Photo: Diacor

The DiacorPlus service enables you to meet the doctor online for a medical consultation or diagnosis. As a user you also have real-time access to personal healthcare information, such as lab results. As a partner to the healthcare company Diacor, HiQ has been responsible for the development of the new service.

We have decided to meet Mikko Mölsä from HiQ at one of Finland’s largest hospitals, located in Helsinki.

Hi Mikko! How come you wanted to meet here at the hospital?

”We are working more and more within the healthcare domain at HiQ. It is an important and exciting area with great potential for simplicity and improvement.

In which way would you say that DiacorPlus simplifies everyday life?

”Look around you here at the hospital. A lot of resources are put into simple consultations. What if we didn’t need to come here for minor things? It would save both time and money. That is where DiacorPlus enters the scene. The mobile service gives you access to your own little private clinic in your pocket, complete with all of the essential information. DiacorPlus is really breaking barriers in an area in which physical meetings are usually required. The service works in all smartphones during all hours of the day.

With the new service, Diacor is truly lifting digital healthcare to an entirely new level in Finland. What kind of feedback has the mobile service received?

”It’s been fantastic! Many say that it’s very convenient to be able to meet the doctor via live chat or video, and also to have access to personal patient data. Even Gartner was surprised about the level of innovation. Diacor Plus was also nominated in the Blue Arrow digital gala in the ”Disruption” and ”Best performing team” categories. Another reason behind the positive feedback is a very good user interface.

What’s it like to work in a domain such as the healthcare industry?

”It’s not the simplest industry to work with. There are a lot of policies and regulations, for example regarding patient security, and many players feel that existing products and systems are limiting them when they want to work with innovation. Nevertheless, the industry is constantly advancing its positions and we at HiQ have developed smart services and products that simplify and improve in both Finland and Sweden.

Tuomas Teuri, Head of IT at Diacor:

”The aim right from the start was to build the best and most qualitative mobile healthcare service in the market. We wanted every Diacor client to have access to the service simultaneously, regardless of mobile device. Even though we had an extremely ambitious time plan, we have never compromised regarding functionality or quality at any stage. This is incredibly important when working with healthcare.

About Diacor: Diacor is a Finnish medical and healthcare service company owned by the Helsinki Deaconess Institute Foundation and the LähiTapiola Group. Diacor has a total of 13 clinics as well as Finland’s longest serving private hospital located in Helsinki’s Ruoholahti district

Non-Hit Car & Truck

- simpler, safer driving

HiQ helps Volvo Cars with Non-Hit Car and Truck

Challenge
While driving a car you are constantly exposed to hazards in the form of, for example, other road users and wild animals. Remaining alert to all of these hazards unaided is not always an easy task.

Assignment
Helping the client Volvo Cars to make use of advanced technology to create solutions that mean that the vehicle itself is able to detect the hazards that can occur in traffic and on the road. These solutions are to contribute to the vision that by the year 2020 there will be no fatalities or serious injuries to anyone travelling in a Volvo car.

Solution
As part of the four-year “Non-Hit Car” project, HiQ is playing its part as principal partner in developing technology that will provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings. The car is now equipped with cameras and radar sensors around its entire body in order to detect possible dangers.

Result
An all-round view of the car’s immediate surroundings is a key component in efforts to realise Volvo Cars’ commitment to a zero vision in terms of serious accidents. The ability to identify and detect hazards in good time will enable drivers to avoid accidents and make driving a Volvo both simpler and safer.

Swish

- a solution for mobile payments

Challenge
To free users from bank card readers and the hassle of entering the recipient’s account number by pioneering a new way of carrying out transactions in real time. The innovative solution also had to work as a common service for Sweden’s six largest banks, all of which have their own unique security systems and basic processes.

Assignment
To create a mobile solution for simple real-time financial transactions between private individuals for Sweden’s six largest banks in cooperation with Bankgirot.

Solution
In a project that expanded as it progressed, HiQ developed the IT solution for the Swish mobile app – a shared service for SEB, Handelsbanken, Nordea, Danske Bank, Länsförsäkringar Bank, and the various branches of Swedbank and Sparbank. Using this service, it is possible to transfer money to individuals with an account in a Swish-affiliated bank in real time. All that is needed for the transaction is the recipient’s mobile phone number – no card reader or long account numbers are necessary. Payments are approved with the help of a mobile Bank ID, which ensures that the solution is as safe as the banks’ own individual internet services.

Result
Millions of Swedes can now easily transfer money in real time via their mobile phones. Swish is a huge success - in its first 4 years it has reached around 5 million users who now use the service to manage various everyday situations, such as paying someone back for a lunch or collecting money to buy someone a joint birthday present. Swish was awarded as "Mobile Payment of the Year" at the Swedish Mobile Gala 2013.

Project Ngulia

HiQ helps to stop poaching in Kenya

Challenge
In 1970 there were 20 000 black rhinos in Kenya. Today a mere 650 remain. The poaching of rhinos increased with 5,000 per cent between 2007 and 2012 alone, and the animals aren’t the only ones in danger. The park rangers risk their lives everyday as the prospects of earning big bucks has meant that well-organised criminal gangs with links to terror groups have muscled in on the poaching business. Unless this development is stopped the black rhinoceros, like so many of Africa’s other animals, face the risk of extinction. That would be a tragedy for the ecosystem and for the diversity of the African savannah, as well as for Kenya’s important safari tourism.

Assignment
Kenya Wildlife Service, Stimson Center and Linköping University have teamed up in the Ngulia project – an initiative aiming to protect the animals and turn the development with the help of new technology. HiQ was brought in by Linköping University to develop and test the technology, and we contribute with both technical know-how and project management. The ambition is for Kenya’s black rhino population to recover to around 750 by 2016.

Solution
The project group’s work focuses on sensor technology and multimodal sensors in smartphones. Based on that, various applications are developed for the rangers, enabling simple communication, orientation and reporting of traces by animals and poachers. The phones also work as security alarms. The project also tests everything from heat-detection cameras and radar systems to drones and gunshot detectors. HiQ staff has worked on-site in the Ngulia rhino sanctuary in Kenya and we also work with Kolmården Wildlife Park in order to test different technologies in the right environment and with the right animals.

Result
The rangers have previously been poorly equipped to tackle the poachers. If they were lucky, they had access to a vehicle, night-vision binoculars, a machine-gun each, and a short-wave radio open for anyone to listen to their conversations. Now the park rangers are equipped with smart solutions and tools to protect both the animals and themselves. Eventually, the intention is that it will be possible to expand the surveillance system and use it in other places and in other types of threat scenarios.

The new kungalv.se

HiQ develops new web for Kungalv

Challenge
A municipality has a lot of public information that needs to be available online and easy to access for the citizens. Such material can concern everything from schools or sports venues to building permits and traffic regulations. A big challenge is to present and structure all of this information in a user-friendly way, helping visitors to quickly and easily find what they are looking for. As many today use smartphones as a main platform when looking for information, the material needs to be accessible regardless of device.

Assignment
HiQ had overall responsibility for both design and development in the creation of the new www.kungalv.se. The client’s keywords were courage, creativity and re-thinking, and the task was to create a neat and modern communication platform that improves for the citizens and is easy to use. The project had high demands on usability and simplicity.

Solution
The new www.kungalv.se was launched in September 2015 and is a responsive solution that focuses on the users. The old municipality website from 2004 has shrunk from 11,000 to 800 pages, with simpler texts, improved logic as well as translations to sign language. The new solution also has a better search functionality and a focus on video and images.

Result
The new platform simplifies and improves by offering a better user experience, both for the citizens of Kungälv and for the people working with communication in the municipality. It is now easier to both distribute and find information, as for example the search function has been improved, and as the solution is now adapted for all types of devices. The development of the new municipality website will also continue after the launch, with added functionality, more accessibility and even better service for the citizens.

Volvo In-car Delivery

Challenge
Many of us have experienced how tricky it can be to have ordered goods delivered, not least since many couriers’ delivery times don’t fit people’s day-to-day lives. Often, one might not be home when the delivery arrives, and having to fetch the goods at the post office is time consuming.

Assignment
Simplifying the delivery of goods to private individuals together with Volvo Cars.

Solution
HiQ has helped Volvo Cars to develop the technology for the globally acknowledged service Volvo In-car Delivery, that was initially known as ”Roam Delivery”. The service allows consumers to have ordered goods delivered straight to the trunk of their connected Volvo. To use the service, the driver of a Volvo simply chooses their car as a delivery address. The delivery company gets access to the car’s location, colour and registration number, and to a digital disposable key that is connected to Volvo On Call. With a mobile device, the courier simply unlocks the car on site and leaves the goods in the trunk. The car is then immediately locked and the owner receives a message confirming the delivery.

Result
The innovative service is both timesaving and hassle-free, for the recipient as well as for the vendor and the courier. Pilot tests showed that 86 per cent experienced the service as timesaving. 92 per cent stated that they would rather have their goods delivered to their cars than to their homes. When the service went live in November 2015 it was quickly both talked-about and appreciated, and more vendors have also joined the service since then.

Facebook for deafblind people

Facebook for deafblind people

Challenge
Not being able to communicate on equal terms leads to people being isolated from society and excluded from social contexts. Today, a lot of our conversations take place online, but for people suffering from deafblindness or who are visually impaired, navigating and communicating on the internet can be difficult. The problem with Facebook is that the interface and the huge amount of information are not compatible with tools such as screen readers and braille displays. The challenge was therefore to create a simpler and more slimmed Facebook, which still presents the user with the most common functionality.

Assignment
Helping the Swedish Post & Telecom Authority to make Facebook accessible for everyone, including people suffering from deafblindness and people who are visually impaired.

Solution
Together with PTS, HiQ has developed the service ”Fejjan för alla”, that works just as well on a computer as in a smartphone or tablet. The user-friendly interface connects well with aids such as screen readers, braille displays and magnification software. The service has been developed in close collaboration with the target group and deafblind people, as well as visually impaired, have been testing the service throughout the development project. ”Fejjan för alla” is a clean and slimmed-down version of Facebook in which the most common actions, such as status updates, friends and messages, have been simplified.

Result
With the service, deafblind people and those who are visually impaired can communicate with family, new acquaintances and others with disabilities on equal terms. Feedback after the launch has been positive, not least for the simplicity of the service. Possible users are the 2,500 individuals who suffer from deafblindness in Sweden, as well as the country’s approximately 100,000 visually impaired.

S-mobiili

HiQ helps S-Pankki with S-mobiili

Challenge
The S Group’s in-store bank S-Pankki has over 2,6 million customers in Finland, and service sports in more than 700 of the S Group outlets. S-Pankki’s services are foremost aimed at the users of the S Groups customer loyalty card. The challenge was to connect all of the S Group services – customer loyalty bonus, the internet bank as well as other services and benefits.

Assignment
Helping the S Group in Finland to simplify and improve for their customers, by developing and offering the next generation of mobile banking services.

Solution
HiQ developed a solution called S-mobiili (S Mobile), which is the first mobile bank in the world to be integrated with a retailers customer loyalty program. With the service, S Group customers can manage their bank errands and their loyalty bonus balance at the same time. S-mobiili also offers personalized benefits and discounts as well as an adapted feature for finding service spots. For a complete list of the many smart features, please visit http://www.s-mobiili.fi

Result
S-mobiili simplifies and improves the customers’ everyday lives, and it received a fantastic welcoming from both experts and users when it was launched. As an example, the service received an honorary mention for ”Best User Experience” in the GrandOne competition. S-mobiili was launched in November 2013 and it was downloaded to nearly 200,000 mobile devices in the first five months alone. S-mobiili has really succeeded in meeting the users’ expectations and demands, which is proven by an average score of 4 out of 5 stars in reviews of the service.

Channel 4

HiQ helps Channel 4 with Youview

Challenge
The way we watch TV has changed. Today’s viewers are used to being able to choose when and how they watch TV. To meet viewers’ needs, the UK’s public service broadcasters and two broadband companies agreed to work together to create YouView – a subscription-free, easy-to-use TV service with more than 70 digital channels, a 7-day catch-up function and a wide variety of TV programmes, films and radio shows on demand. Channel 4 needed to create a completely new player and portal that could be synchronised with this shared solution.

Assignment
To help the UK TV station, Channel 4, to create an IPTV service with a new player and portal for YouView – a shared platform for UK public service broadcasters.

Solution
HiQ played a key role in the team that created the Channel 4 player and portal for YouView. A critical element of the work was the development of a completely new on-demand player for the new platform, complete with content protection, dynamic advertising and detailed reporting. HiQ also helped Channel 4 to develop a logging system, which is essential for diagnosis and error detection when problems occur.

Result
With Channel 4’s new IPTV service, all the channel’s viewers can see their favourite programmes when they want to – both live and on-demand on their normal TVs.

Dregen

HiQ created the new website for Dregen

Challenge
In today’s digital world an artist is so much more than someone who writes songs and performs on stage. When the channels are endless, a strategic communication is essential to break through the buzz. Dregen spends much on his time stuck on tour buses all over the world and therefore the solution needs to be simple and easy to use. It’s also important with a direct link to the fans so that Dregen can speak to them in person.

Assignment
To help popular Swedish rock star Dregen to communicate and reach out to fans and media in a way that suits his rock’n’roll image.

Solution
We created a website and a digital platform which with its raw rock’n’roll attitude fits the artist’s image perfectly. The website, based on a flexible, fast, easy-to-use solution, brings Dregen’s communication to a whole new level and makes it easy for him to work while on the run. Because Dregen takes a very active role in social media this was a given component. Much attention was given to usability and the site as a mobile channel.

Result
Dregen’s new website enjoys a great number of visitors and the traffic coming in through mobile channels has increased steadily. The site increases the artist’s visibility and enables contact with fans and media. Thanks to his new digital platform, Dregen can spend more of his time on song writing and touring the world.

Fintoto

Challenge
To bring the excitement and drama of horse and harness racing to mobile users. Harness racing is Finland’s second-most popular sport in terms of spectator numbers. Annually, some 730,000 spectators attend the Finnish racetracks. In 2012, Tote betting amounted to nearly 250 million euros, half of which comes from online gaming. In step with a growing interest and the arrival of new technology, Fintoto discovered a significant demand for a mobile solution, especially among new players. The service needed to be both modern and easy to use.

Assignment
To create a new and modern mobile service for Fintoto Oy, the group that markets and organizes horse race betting in Finland.

Solution
HiQ developed ”Toto-mobiili”, a service that moves Toto betting and live broadcasts into the smartphones in the players’ pockets, enabling them to gamble and follow the races anytime and anywhere. The service focuses on the user, combining cutting-edge technology with the joy and excitement of betting.

Result
Fintoto’s customers can now easily bet on horse racing and follow live broadcasts in their smartphones. The service simplifies for the users and strengthens Fintoto’s offer.

JAS 39 Gripen flight simulator

Challenge
To develop simulators that reflect the advances made and to offer pilots a virtual environment as close to reality as possible, so that on-the-ground training genuinely does resemble the real thing. The aircraft is one of the most technically advanced in the world and the result of one of Sweden’s biggest ever industrial projects. In many respects, the environment in a simulator is even more complex than that in the plane itself; not only the aircraft and its controls, but also the surroundings, operator positions, tactical environment, etc. have to be authentically reproduced. And, of course, the simulators have to be simple for users to operate.

Assignment
HiQ has been involved in the development and managent of the flight simulator training for the JAS39 Gripen since the mid-1990s. The simulator are used to train pilots to fly the aircrafts, handle the tactical systems and deal with various emergency situations.

Solution
Within the project we are using agile methodology, continually taking responsibility for what is most important to the customer and users at every point in time. The assignment includes consultancy services within everything from project management to configuration management, safety work, the preparation and specification of requirements, design/architecture, development, testing, delivery, training and support for users (both technicians and pilots).

Result
Over the years, more than 300 pilots have been trained in the simulators. Training in a simulator is very cost-effective and has considerably less impact on the environment.

Stockholm Pride Parade

HiQ loves Pride

Challenge
To carry out the first ever live broadcast of Sweden’s biggest event – the Stockholm Pride Festival – and to involve participants in the parade with the help of mobile units.

Assignment
To cope with the huge strain on the internet when more than five hundred thousand people out on the streets of Stockholm are encouraged during an intensive four-hour period to stream pictures for a live TV broadcast. We also wanted to set new records for live streaming during the course of one single day. “Openness” was the theme of this year’s Pride Festival, and we wanted to show that technical solutions, such as Channel Q, can contribute to a more open society.

Solution
We created a four-hour live broadcast with presenter Roger Nordin. Guests on the programme included Danny Saucedo, Babsan and Sweden’s Minister for European Union Affairs, Birgitta Olsson. By integrating Bambuser with our website it was possible to follow thousands of live pictures from the parade. The camera team worked hard to create a wi-fi “carpet” to cover the entire the parade route so that everyone could contribute to the fantastic show. The event was broadcast on hiq.se, expressen.se, qx.se and on the large screen in Kungsträdgården Park in Central Stockholm.

Result
We pioneered the first ever live broadcast of the Stockholm Pride Parade. We set a new Nordic record for the number of live streams in a day. We set a new visitor record to our website, and tens of thousands of people watched the TV broadcast online. We also succeeded in showing how technology can create a more open society.

HiQ's market segments

Together with innovative and driven clients, HiQ works with simplifying and improving people’s lives using technology and communications.

HiQ’s clients come from a variety of different industries, and they all have something in common - that they want to be at the forefront, developing their businesses and operations through smart and user-friendly solutions.

We divide our customers, who have primarily Nordic but also global presence, into eight market segments.

Telecom

Since 1995, HiQ has a very strong standing in this segment and we collaborate with global and market-leading clients.

For more than 20 years we have worked with suppliers, operators, users, and the legislative authorities. This has provided us with extensive know-how within telecommunication systems, from both a technical and a commercial perspective.

Today we work broadly with the clients in this segment; with advanced technological systems and with digital channels and solutions aimed directly to the end users. We are also winning strategic assignments in which our task is to help our clients with identifying new possibilities. As an example, HiQ is the partner to a global telecom operator, with the assignment to develop the operator’s business within the areas Internet of Things and digital transformation.

Mobility and network connection are today a given for most of us. HiQ’s experience and know-how within telecom therefore creates great value for clients and projects in all industries, as digitalisation is influencing one area after the other.

Some of our clients in this segment are Ascom Wireless Solutions, Com Hem, Doro, Ericsson, Microsoft Devices, Nokia, Telenor, TDC and Tele2.

Automotive

Vehicles and their components are nowadays connected and able to communicate with each other. The car is no longer only a means of transportation, the focus is more and more on related services.

The technology simplifies for people, contributes to environmentally friendlier vehicles, and increases safety on our roads.

The innovative power is strong and the perhaps most signifant trend is Autonomous Drive – the technology behind self-driving cars. Together with connectivity it is driving the development forward with huge leaps. Now everything can be connected in the cloud – road trains, active safety systems, Internet of Things solutions, and infotainment. The focus is shifting from the product into different services, such as Volco’s In-car Delivery that enables delivery of goods directly to your car.

HiQ delivers both technical expertise and acts as partner within concept and innovation. We have for example worked with both technology and concept development in two new concepts from Volvo Cars. “Concept 26” focuses on what we as drivers want to do with our time as the car takes over the wheel – a project with safety as a key factor. The other concept uses “mixed reality”, taking both the buyer experience and driver experience to a new level.

HiQ is also involved in developing eco-friendlier vehicles. In this area technology plays a crucial part in finding new and effective solutions.

Some of our clients in this segment are BorgWarner, Scania, Volvo Cars and Volvo Group.

Industry

The drive to simplify and improve is strong within the industry segment and a growing number of companies are dependent on, and open to, the possibilities of digitalisation.

In this development, HiQ has the know-how and experience to strengthen businesses. A common denominator is the demand many companies have to become more cost-effective and to identify new offers – all with the aim to stay competitive. As everything is becoming connected there is also a lot of talk about the possibilities with Internet of Things. The challenge is detecting the possibilities that create real value. Not innovating for the sake of innovation, but with the user and result in focus.

HiQ has a strong position in this segment and we help many companies to streamline operations, for example the Finnish infrastructure and construction company Destia. By taking overall responsibility for Destia’s system integrations HiQ makes sure that all business systems work seamlessly together, favouring Destia’s operations and ultimately nearly all Finns.

We work with many global players, for example with management of business-critical applications and development of digital services. As an example, HiQ is a strategic partner to Finnair and SAS, and responsible of development, support and operation of critical crew management systems.

Some of our clients in this segment are ABB, Assa Abloy, Atlas Copco, Bombardier, Cactus, Dekra, Destia, Electrolux, Finnair, Jeppesen Systems, Kuusakoski, Kerava Energy, and SAS.

Public sector

Authorities and public organisations are constantly striving to increase accessibility and improve the service to the citizens, for example through digital tools and services.

HiQ has vast experience from these kinds of critical solutions and of the challenges that are clients are struggling with - challenges that can concern everything from out-dated systems and managing large data volumes, to security and integrity issues.

In practice, simplifying for the citizens can be to make sure that a patient’s medical records are available digitally regardless of healthcare unit. It’s also when we help municipalities to improve communication and contact with their inhabitants, or when we’re helping an authority to streamline its internal operations.

HiQ has framework agreements with the central purchasing authorities in both Finland and Sweden: Hansel and Kammarkollegiet. This gives us a strong platform for continued growth within this important segment. We also continue to strengthen our position within healthcare, using strategy and technology to simplify for both patients and healthcare providers. For the client SALAR, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, HiQ is responsible for development and management of “Vården i siffror” (Healthcare in numbers), a service that gives citizens access to healthcare statistics from all of Sweden.

Some of our clients in this segment are the Swedish Public Employment Service, Kungälv municipality, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, the Swedish Enforcement Authority, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, the Government of Sweden, the Swedish Tax Agency, the city of Västerås, and the Finnish customs.

Finance and insurance

Today, we take for granted that we can manage our bank errands easily, quickly and securely - and with a mobile device.

At HiQ, we combine our financial know-how with expertise in digitalisation to create competitive offers in mobile payments and banking services. An area in which HiQ continues being the leading player in the Nordics.

We are proud of the figures showing that millions of people are using the different services that HiQ works with. One example is Getswish's payment service Swish, for which HiQ has developed the IT solution together with Bankgirot. The service has more than four million users.

HiQ also helps Volvofinans Bank on their digital journey, by developing the new service “CarPay” that gives a full overview of all car-related purchases and payments, as well as a new range of benefits. The service simplifies for nearly one million car owners.

Some of our clients in this segment are Bankgirot, Collector, Fennia, Finanskompetens, Handelsbanken, LähiTapiola, Nordea, OP Pohjola Group, the S Group, SEB, Swedbank, the Traffic Assurance Association, Varma and Volvofinans Bank.

Media, gaming and entertainment

This segment has changed rapidly. Today, we decide for ourselves where, when and how we want to watch TV, gamble or follow the news.

The players in this area are all struggling with the same challenges. Competition is strong and the offer of choices is huge, which sets high demands on interesting content and usability. Those who offer quality content and deliver it through simple and user-friendly platforms will be successful. On top of this, a winning strategy for business and marketing is required in order to reach out.

These challenges are well in line with HiQ’s position within technology, people, and business. We use technical know-how in combination with interaction design and user behaviour when working with both experienced and new players. As an example we collaborate with a worldrenowned company within the area of toys, experiences and entertainment. We have also worked with gamification and digital learning for several years, an area of which we have only seen the beginning.

Within the gaming sector the Nordic companies are successful in the global market and HiQ works with a number of leading gaming companies. We are also involved in the development of sports betting solutions, for example an award-winning service for horse and harness racing and betting in Finland.

Some of our clients in this segment are Channel 4, DICE, Fintoto, GTECH, King, MTG, MTV 3 Finland, Rovio, Spotify, Sveriges Television, TV4, Utbildningsradion and Veikkaus.

Defence and security

We live in a time in which defence and security are more and more important, and in which also surveillance and external monitoring are included.

As the view of the world is uncertain the question of defence is put higher on the agenda – not least is IT security an increasingly important issue for our clients. HiQ’s experience in this area is extensive, as it has been since we started in 1995.

For more than 20 years we have worked with developing training and development simulators for JAS – high-tech solutions that have been used for educating and training hundreds of pilots worldwide. Simulation technology is something we can use in other segments as well, for example within the industry sector.

At HiQ we have always been good at using know-how from one industry in other segments. As an example, we are combining our knowledge within telecom and mobility with our experience within security, as we contribute with technical know-how in the Ngulia project in Kenya. The Ngulia initiative uses sensor technology to protect the black rhino and park rangers from poachers.

HiQ is also helping the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to simplify tracking of equipment using RFID technology - a collaboration that has won international recognition. The tracking streamlines and provides FMV with better control, which gives positive effects from an economic and environmental perspective.

Some of our clients in this segment are BAE, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), the Swedish Armed Forces, Linköping University and SAAB.

Retail

Retail has been in the middle of an enormous shift for years. Today, e-commerce represents a large part of our total consumption and is constantly setting new records.

It’s time to erase the “e” and see everything as commerce, but through various channels and platforms. Shopping online is standard today and we are also purchasing more from companies in other countries. For the players in the Nordics this creates new demands and challenges regarding user experience and the complete customer journey. An effect of the consumers’ demands of increased simplicity is for example the launch of Swish for online retail.

HiQ has an extensive understanding of the industry and we supply leading retail chains with services ranging from idea and design to quality assurance. HiQ works within a broad range that includes everything from procurement and logistics systems to tools for marketing and sales. Our expertise within payment solutions is valuable for meeting new demands of simplified buying processes in order to increase conversion.

HiQ is for example helping Suomen Lähikauppa (SLK) in Finland to improve its services to loyalty customers. Thanks to the integration solution that HiQ implements, shoppers receive extensive customer loyalty benefits in SLK’s nearly 700 stores around Finland.

Some of our clients in this segment are ICA, Suomen Lähikauppa, Stockmann and Vianor.

What we do for our clients

HiQ's passion is to create simple solutions to complex challenges. Our firm belief is that innovation is spelled simplicity, and together with our clients we are driving innovation for a better and more joyful world.

Digitalisation leads to many business models being challenged, and the pursuit for new value-adding offers and more cost-effective operations is intense. Technology is becoming significantly cheaper, smaller, more powerful and more connected, and we see how the users play an increasingly important part in driving innovation.

In a time when the need for change and development is dominating our conversations, we at HiQ bring clarity and determination to our clients. We lead the way for those who are fighting digital anxiety, and we drive change with those in need of transforming their products, services, business models, and organisations.

Our driving force is to simplify people’s lives and create a better world through technology and communication. This has positioned HiQ as a leading player with experience and know-how within the complete spectra of technology, people, and business.

We help our clients with the entire chain from technology development, systems solutions, testing, operations and maintenance, to digital strategies, concept development, user experience, design, and content production. A HiQ client is just as often a CEO or Marketing Manager, as a Head of IT, technology, or development, and our assignments are both operational and strategic.

HiQ is present in all kinds of industries - helping organisations to strengthen their business, simplify for the users, and streamline operations.

HiQ's position

Telecom

Telecommunications involves communication between people and between people and systems.

It can also include systems communicating with each other without human involvement. Today, this means that your computer, video game console, mobile, sound system, TV and other devices are able to interact and communicate with the world around them.

HiQ has long held a strong position within telecommunications and cooperates with the majority of systems suppliers, mobile phone manufacturers, operators and users in the Nordic region. We are currently witnessing a continued, strong convergence between the Internet, media, entertainment and mobility. Telecom technology is playing a central role here as increasing amounts of information are transmitted with the help of IP. HiQ is active at the very heart of this convergence.

One example of this is our development of Dreampark's next-generation IPTV portal. TV distribution over IP networks using a new kind of hybrid box will give viewers access to a broad range of TV channels, the Internet, movie rental services, Facebook and Twitter. In the future, it will even be possible to record programmes directly on mobile phones and tablets.

Mobility

Regardless of where we are, we have become used to being in constant contact with the outside world via mobile phones, laptops and tablets – when at work, on holiday and in our free time.

We take it for granted that we have constant access to the services that we feel are important. These might be e-mail, social networking sites, weather reports, mobile banking, or our favourite music, to name just a few. Whatever it might be, the requirements we place on the service with regard to accessibility, privacy, content and usability are great.

HiQ provides expertise within mobility and mobile solutions to customers in all market segments and we are highly competent with regard to various technical platforms. We provide consultancy services and work with strategies, applications, usability and quality assurance linked to business benefits in our customers' operations. Some examples include a mobile banking application for handling banking errands and a mobile e-commerce platform that allows users to buy goods straight from their mobile phones.

Digital communication partner

In just a few short years the way in which we communicate has been totally transformed. To meet the new challenges that this presents and the needs it creates, HiQ has assembled a talented team in the form of a digital agency that helps our customers to make their digital communication even more powerful.

Today’s communication increasingly takes place online and across numerous different platforms. This creates business for HiQ, which is winning more and more assignments as a strategic digital partner. Our expertise in technology, communication and business together with our extensive experience in many market segments and specialist areas means that HiQ is gaining ground in the digital market. The team of art directors, creative directors, copywriters, interaction designers and usability experts in HiQ's digital agency frequently works on projects that demand the highest levels of innovation, creativity and technical know-how.

The partnership is tailor-made to support the client´s business in the best way. In this way HiQ becomes a long-term partner to organisations that regard IT and communication as business critical functions for success. Other collaboration takes the form of a more limited participation in projects, where we interact closely with advertising agencies, etc.

IT for vehicles

New vehicles launched onto the market today are packed with IT and technological solutions.

This might include an information system for the driver that indicates how the vehicle is performing, a navigation system or an entertainment system for passengers. One area that continues to expand is active safety. Examples of active safety solutions include systems that cause cars to brake automatically when someone or something gets too close and functions that improve driver vision in poor lighting.

HiQ helps vehicle manufacturers and sub-suppliers to the automotive industry to develop platforms, systems and services for vehicles. These facilitate communication between different devices within a vehicle and communication to and from a vehicle. We are well positioned within fields like infotainment, active safety, telematics and usability.

Another growing area in which HiQ has a long record of experience is mobility and digital channels. In this field, we help Saab Automobile AB with its development of technical platforms for marketing via digital channels and mobile applications, for example. We also develop engine management systems, production systems and diagnostics solutions and have delivered a new production system for a leading global car manufacturer to Brazil and Asia. Through our broad-ranging offerings to the automotive industry, HiQ's work saves both money and lives.

Business-critical systems

IT offers a wealth of opportunities for businesses and the public sector to both improve and simplify what they do.

Many companies are highly dependent on their IT systems. Banks and insurance companies are totally dependent on the reliability of the IT systems that manage payments and other transactions, for example. Public sector institutions require support systems to help them keep their operations well organised and to ensure that the services they provide to the public function well.

In the case of the Swedish National Tax Board, for example, IT has made it possible to offer better, simpler, more user-friendly services by providing forms, tax declarations and applications online.

HiQ develops systems able to meet high demands on accessibility and reliability and that are business-critical for the customer's entire operation. Often, these are systems that are required to operate 24-7, such as systems for share trading and case management systems for public authorities. This might also include things like logistical solutions for transport or trading companies. Whatever the case may be, they are always business-critical parts of our customers' operations.

Simulation technology

One of the specialist areas in which HiQ has a long-running history of expertise is simulation technology. We are leaders in the Nordic region in software development for simulated environments and work together with many different customers in the field.

Ever since the JAS Gripen fighter jet first came into service, HiQ has developed simulators for training pilots. HiQ continues its work on this project as the aircraft and technology continue to be developed. An interesting detail about the JAS Gripen project is that the simulator uses the same system software as the actual fighter jet.

HiQ also develops simulators used in the development and testing of new mobile phones and IT solutions for vehicles. Another example is when we helped Forsslund Systems, the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska Institutet to develop an oral surgery simulator. The system is used by dentistry students to practice surgical procedures.

Gaming and platforms

Today there is a veritable ocean of interactive online games. Scratchcards are now available on mobile phones, poker is a success on tablets and there are many new ideas in the pipeline.

HiQ works to produce interactive games for betting and sporting games for state-regulated companies. The demand for interactive gaming alternatives is increasing, especially within sports games.

We are Nordic leaders in the area and develop and implement platforms for both gaming and the games themselves. HiQ also develops advanced solutions for managing security, accessibility and performance. Our customers include established, well-known Nordic gaming companies and betting agencies, as well as GTECH – the world-leading supplier of IT solutions and services for the gaming and lottery industry.

Securities trading

Within finance, HiQ is a specialist in securities trading services.

We have successfully managed a very large number of projects and commissions in this area – from strategy and systems to projects and administration. Efficiency is often the most important issue for our customers, e.g. how to make the process faster, how to monitor it better or how to reduce risk. Thanks to HiQ's understanding of the flows of the securities industry, we are able to find solutions to these issues. We possess expertise on the entire process – from orders and transactions to clearing and settlement.

We provide our customers with insight into the complete process. The finance industry is complex, so it is often possible to focus on and understand only one section of the market. At HiQ, we understand all aspects of the industry. Our comprehensive knowledge allows us to quickly find effective, secure solutions that meet all existing standards and legal requirements, from the time the order is placed to the time the transaction is made and registered. This over-arching capability saves our customers both time and money, allowing them to get up and running quickly and to get to work on new business opportunities.
