Digital Driving License for Traffic
With focus on security and simplicity
Together with the Finnish Transport Safety Agency, Trafi, HiQ and Great Apes have developed a prototype for a digital driving license.

HiQ and Great Apes have together with the Finnish Road Safety Agency developed a prototype for a digital driving license with a focus on safety and simplicity. The digital driving license enables, for example, that the user information and the portrait image are always up to date, which makes it easier to identify the person. Visual security can change dynamically and updates can be postponed to the units of all authorities in case of suspicion of crime.
Mission
HiQ was commissioned by the Finnish Road Safety Agency Trafi to develop a proposal on what a digital driving license could look like.

Solution
HiQ and Great Apes, together with the Finnish Road Safety Agency, developed the prototype with a focus on simplicity and safety. The digital driver’s license received two main levels of information security: visual security and backup. The visual security level used a digital watermark with a gyroscope, combined with a continuously animated background to prevent forgery. The user information and the portrait image are always up to date, which makes it easier to identify the person. Visual security can change dynamically and updates can be postponed to the units of all authorities in case of suspicion of crime.
